This graceful bamboo is named in honour
of Dr Shiu Ying Hu, for her contribution to the understanding
of the flora of Hong Kong and China and, we being her
students, also for her direction and encouragement in
the study of plant systematics.
On partially shaded hill slopes at altitudes below 90 m. Known
only from Hong Kong.
