Mangrove plants have the following adaptations:

High salt concentrations in seawater

f) ability to take up saline water and secrete salts or store salts in physiologically inert form

g) ability to take up water and exclude salts

h) ability to shed leaves which have stored excess salts

i) accumulation of low molecular weight carbohydrates to balance the osmotic potential
