Grassland is one of the three major
types of vegetation in Hong Kong. According to the International Biological
Programme, the term "grassland" refers to "vegetation principally
made up of grasses and other graminoid plants", while our government
publication Land Utilization in Hong Kong (1968) defined it as "land
covered with grass and low scrub generally under 1 foot (0.3 m) in height".
